Flightbeam Updates KSFO with MSFS 2024 Native Compatibility

The developer Flightbeam Studios has announced through its website a major update to one of its most popular airports: KSFO Captain’s Edition.

The developer Flightbeam Studios has announced through its website a major update to one of its most popular airports: KSFO Captain’s Edition. First released last year for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the developer has now released a new native version for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which includes new features.

Exciting New Features

Although the developer admitted there were some “considerable early challenges” with the new MSFS SDK, Flightbeam is finally proud to release a new native version. The most notable difference customers will notice, according to the developer, are the ground textures. MSFS 2024’s new SDK allows more artistic freedom with ground assets, which have been taken advantage of by the developer.

Although KSFO already had high-resolution ground assets, textures were severely limited in MSFS 2020. This changed in MSFS 2024, resulting in the developer being able to make aprons and taxiways more lifelike. There are more oil stains, tire marks, and gunk, which match the real-world counterpart. Additionally, every asset was re-optimized for the best possible performance.

Closing Notes

This update is completely free for all customers who have already bought the product and is currently available on Contrail. The developer also announced that the product will eventually hit the MSFS 2024 Marketplace, but no date was given. The product is retailed at Flightbeam’s store for $31.00.
