Following four years of development, FSCharter V2 has been released in an open beta state. The platform offers both free and paid features, giving users flexibility in how deeply they want to engage with it. This version has been entirely rebuilt with the help of community feedback to create a richer, shared experience.
What Is FSCharter?
FSCharter is a persistent online economy and career simulator for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Prepar3D, and X-Plane. It allows users to experience the virtual world of aviation through an immersive career mode. Whether players choose to be bush pilots navigating remote airstrips or the owners of global airlines, the platform supports a wide range of scenarios.

First launched in 2022, FSCharter introduced a shared economy that linked flight simulator activity to a live backend system. Thereafter, it grew into a large virtual aviation ecosystem. Users earn virtual money, build companies, and compete or cooperate in an active and dynamic world.
What Does Version 2 Bring?
After three years of testing and refinement, V2 launched on 5 November 2025, announced on their Discord. This release brings many changes including a faster backend, deeper world simulation, and new systems for demand, ground infrastructure, and collaboration. FSCharter states that these features are “designed to make FSCharter’s world deeper, fairer, and far more dynamic.”

The Pilot Career
For pilots, career progression has been reimagined. While V1 used a global type-rating system, V2 instead allows airlines to independently set their requirements. This system rewards pilot loyalty, as moving between companies may affect a pilot’s seniority.
Players can begin as pilots and build their net worth to a level that allows them to start an airline of their own. At that point, the possibilities expand significantly, with control over salaries, hiring, maintenance, infrastructure, and more. Meanwhile, the economy is influenced by the actions of every player.
The Owner Career
V2 also addresses a major pain point from V1: an overinflated economy. The new economy has been rebuilt from the ground up, introducing charges that mirror the challenges of real-world operations. From dynamic landing fees to fuel and maintenance costs, expenditures are significantly higher than before. Poor business decisions can lead to losses, or even bankruptcy, while efficient operations are rewarded with meaningful progress.

In V1, passenger demand was largely tied to predefined routes. In V2, a dynamic demand system uses real-world population data and adjusts based on player activity, offering diverse opportunities for airlines to explore. This demand can be addressed through competition or collaboration, the latter of which has also been expanded.
Airlines can partner to meet demand more effectively. For example, one company might operate feeder flights into a hub, another might run high-capacity services between major hubs, and a third might provide charter flights from those hubs to remote destinations. This allows demand to be served through multi-leg cooperation.
Version 2 of FSCharter brings a plethora of alterations and improvements in a complete rebuild of the platform. Flights, bases, and business decisions all contribute to a shared passenger economy that continues to operate whether users are online or not.
