MiniCockpit, the company behind the miniFCU, have announced their next product in the MiniCockpit roadmap. The miniEFIS is a scaled-down replica at 80% of the size of the real EFIS unit found in an Airbus aircraft. This product is next in line on their roadmap, with more products to come in the future, helping to build a scaled-down version of an Airbus cockpit.
The miniEFIS
Enhancing your flight experience is the miniEFIS which MiniCockpit says is the best companion for the miniFCU. The EFIS features switches and buttons with the same feel as their miniFCU, replicating the feel of the real Airbus EFIS. The navaid switches have been replicated as they are in real life, meaning you will have to pull and then select which navaid you want displayed on the ND.
Going a step further, MiniCockpit has added a hidden EFIS selector slot, inspired by the A330 and A340. This slot can be found on the ND display mode selector, which transfers the lower ECAM display to the ND should you need it. This additional feature has been added to enable realistic management of in-flight failures.
An additional chrono button has also been added on the left side. This is a push button used for the timing of procedures during your flight. The miniEFIS can not be used standalone and has to be used alongside the miniFCU. However, with the EFIS release, a free stand has been included. This stand solves the problem of a flat viewing angle for people who put the unit straight on the desktop.
Like the miniFCU, the miniEFIS features true-to-life backlighting, a replica display for the QNH, realistic buttons and switches and the classic Airbus blue across the whole unit. The unit also comes with an additional backup cable. The miniEFIS is not available yet but will be priced at โฌ157.95 or ยฃ133 excluding tax and delivery. A discount is available for Kickstarter customers of the miniFCU.
You can find the miniEFIS on MiniCockpit’s website when it releases along with the already released miniFCU which is currently sold out.
