Orbx Introduces MSFS Global Power Lines for MSFS 2020 and 2024

Orbx has launched a new enhancement with MSFS Global Powerlines for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024

Orbx has launched a new enhancement with MSFS Global Power Lines for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, adding detailed power line infrastructure to the environment for both platforms. This add-on is perfect for those interested in low-level flying.

Developed by Dmytro Krykunov, known for MSFS Global Trees HD, this product replaces the simulator’s default power tower models with handcrafted 3D assets. It enhances the visual landscape for low-level and VFR flying. It integrates seamlessly into both MSFS versions, reflecting Orbx’s ongoing efforts to refine the simulator’s global environment.

About Orbx

Orbx continues to cement its position within the flight simulator community, recognised for what the company describes as “blending artistry with precision.” Orbx has an extensive range, including detailed airports like Brisbane International (YBBN), regional packs such as France VFR South-West, and utilities like Flow PRO for enhanced sim interfaces. Supporting PC, Xbox, and multiple simulator platforms, Orbx ensures broad accessibility.

19 Unique Types – More To Come

MSFS Global Power Lines, at the time of release, features 19 unique tower types, split between seven low-power and twelve high-power models. All of these were picked to reflect the best regional variations in power line architecture.

As detailed on the product page, these replacements enhance the default power masts and add connecting lines. They rely on MSFS’s streaming data for placement and orientation rather than controlling their positions directly. This approach maintains performance stability, with the developer noting no significant FPS impact.

The add-on caters primarily to pilots navigating at lower altitudes, where power lines serve as key visual references, such as during bush trips or helicopter operations. It will also be a very welcome addition for those who prefer to fly a little higher and want to see a bit more detail on take-off and landing.

A management tool allows users to revert to default models or disable the add-on if needed, offering flexibility alongside compatibility with both MSFS 2020 and 2024. Although this release includes the 19 types previously mentioned, the developer has committed to increasing this and other aspects of the release in future updates.

Building on Existing Enhancements – Orbx

Orbx has a history of global upgrades – an area not often touched by other developers. MSFS Global Power Lines joins products like MSFS Global Trees HD, which overhauls vegetation with biome-specific textures, and Global Shipping, which populates seas with thousands of vessels using real-world AIS data. Unlike Global Trees HD, which launched in 2024, Global Power Lines focuses on infrastructure rather than natural elements.

Released on Orbx Direct as of April 4, 2025, this add-on is priced at $13.99 AUD and is available for both PC and Xbox users via Orbx Central. You can read more about previous releases from Orbx here on FSNews.
