PMDG Development Update (31.5.)

PMDG has shared another development update regarding their Boeing family to be introduced and updated to be compatible with Prepar3D v5. In the update, the lead developer Robert Randazzo talks about the development of the 737 and 777.

In the PMDG forums post, the developer firstly talks about the PMDG 737NGXu family compatibility with the Prepar3D v5 simulator. Making the product compatible has slowed down the development because there is a new hotfix coming to Prepar3D v5. This hotfix will require significant updates to the product range of PMDG due to the need to adjust the dynamic lighting of aircraft. Meanwhile, they also work on a bunch of other items they want to clear up in the update cycle, those will be included in the changelog that they’ll release with the PMDG 737 update.

The next thing the developer was talking about, is the upcoming update for PMDG Operations Center’s Online resources. On Tuesday, the developer has in plan to do some realignment of cloud-based assets. This means, that users who still use the old versions of PMDG OC2.0 will lose online services such as livery installation and product updates. For most users, it won’t mean anything.

After the update of Boeing 737, the developer will turn the attention back on the 777, which will provide us with PBR, new systems, etc. This is a topic for another day. This update is mainly focused on pushing out bug fixes added in the past 12-18 months, as well as adding the mentioned PBR and P3D v5 compatibility. There are going to be some new features like the EFB or 200ER expansion package. They expect to add large new features to this aircraft overall.

A rather small, but worth mentioning is the PMDG DC-6 update, that will add also PBR and Prepar3D v5 compatibility. This should be pushed after the 777 update.

The last but not least, the developer is planning to bring each of four major product lines to the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Microsoft promises to give the developer entirely new capabilities and will take some time to adapt each product to capitalize. However, all those will be added to MSFS over time. The developer will speak about the MSFS compatibility soon as they will have more information for us.
