The developer Pyreegue has released another scenery of a British airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. This time, Pyreegue sends us to the heart of the Midlands, to Birmingham. The release has been announced through the developer’s Facebook page.

Birmingham Airport (EGBB) was officially opened as Elmdon Airport back in 1939, a few months before the start of WWII. The airport, like many others in the UK, was initially used as a base for the Royal Air Force. Birmingham Airport was mostly used for flight training and production purposes. After the war, in 1946, the airport reopened to accommodate civil passengers.

Currently, the airport serves as a hub to many British carriers, such as Jet2, easyJet and TUI. This airport offers flights to major European hubs and holiday destinations, but there are also flights to Delhi, Cancún, Agadir or Punta Cana. The airport is equipped with a single runway (15/33) and a single terminal for passenger use.

Pyreegue’s rendition offers an up-to-date scenery, with a layout complete with taxiway H, which is aimed to be opened next year. The terminal is also built based on this year’s layout, and there are more than 25 square meters of explorable area using walkaround mode in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The airport is surrounded by realistic and handcrafted terrain and an Air Link, as well as animated people, ensuring a lively feeling from the scenery. For those who also use GSX Pro, Pyreegue has developed a custom GSX profile to enhance realistic ground operations at this airport.

The scenery is now available to be purchased via the Contrail website for €19.99. You can also read more about Pyreeuge and his work in one of our articles here.
