Trespass VR has released the NASA X-59A QueSST for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, bringing the supersonic demonstrator into the simulator. The X-59A is a one-of-a-kind aircraft with technology allowing it to fly faster than the speed of sound without loud sonic booms.

About the NASA X-59A QueSST

Manufactured by Lockheed Martin for NASA, the experimental supersonic aircraft is used by NASA to explore supersonic flight and how to fly without generating loud sonic booms. It first flew on the 28th of October 2025, remaining subsonic for the entire flight. It’s powered by a General Electric F414 engine, reaching speeds of Mach 1.5.

Its canopy, cockpit and ejection seat all come from the Northrop T-38, and landing gear from an F-16. It measures almost 100ft long with a 29.5ft wingspan. Its engine can provide 22,000lbf of thrust when using its afterburner, allowing the aircraft to fly supersonic. The X-59A is yet to fly at supersonic speeds as testing and experiments continue.

NASA’s main goal with the X-59A is to demonstrate technology that can propel an aircraft at faster-than-sound speeds without generating the loud sonic booms that usually come with breaking the sound barrier. The whole experiment will hopefully one day allow supersonic commercial flight to return by making those sonic booms much quieter than they used to be in the Concorde era.

Trespass VR’s X-59A QueSST

With Trespass VR’s X-59A, you can experience the aircraft and its supersonic capabilities inside the simulator. Featuring a high-fidelity 3D model, based on publicly available references on its geometry and proportions. Its flight model has been created to accurately represent the smooth, responsive flight dynamics the X-59A has because of its intended design and behaviour.

Inside the aircraft, you can expect fully functional cockpit instrumentation built for supersonic flight, just as it is in real life. While flying around, you will hear an authentic sound package which has been built to capture the signature sound of its engine to add some immersion to your flying. A custom External Vision System (XVS) has also been included with real-world dynamic information.

Specialised missions built to help familiarise you with the aircraft and its more complex systems have been included, along with an accurate wet-wing fuel system, and an A3X Touch PFD and MFD with full autopilot, VOR and ILS navigation and autothrottle capability.

If you’re looking to experience this supersonic demonstrator, you can purchase the product for €26.64 on the Orbx Store. It is compatible with both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 on PC only. For more Microsoft Flight Simulator news, read here on FSNews.
