V Pilot Designs Releases Rankin Inlet for Microsoft Flight Simulator

V Pilot Designs released the anticipated Rankin Inlet scenery for the Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Rankin Inlet Airport (CYRT), is located on Nunavut’s southern coast in Hudson Bay, Canada.

The airport is a small regional airport serving two airlines on a daily basis. The community of Rankin Inlet is not accessible by road, making the airport a vital lifeline for the town and its vicinity by facilitating all cargo needs.

The scenery package includes many features critical for immersion, such as a detailed terminal building, an accurate runway, and apron markings, even including models of surrounding buildings. What’s more, given the location of the airport, the developers ensured the airport is compatible with all weather scenarios.

The airport features a 6,000-foot runway, able to accommodate small to medium aircraft. The airport is backed by both an RNAV approach as well as a VOR/DME approach in case of inclement weather.

The airport is served by aircraft such as the French-built ATR series as well as classic Boeing 737 aircraft. The Rankin Inlet airport serves as a regional hub, connecting travellers in the Kivalliq region to metropolitan centers like Ottawa and Winnipeg.

As a gateway to the Canadian north, Rankin Inlet can serve as a starting point for treks up to the permafrost of Nunavut and to the backwoods of the Northwest Territories. From jets to piston pounders, Rankin Inlet can serve it all!
