Verticalsim has confirmed that its Palm Beach International Airport (KPBI) scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 is scheduled for release in October. The announcement came on September 27th, 2025, when the developer shared a fourth set of previews on its Discord server.

This marks a turnaround from March 2024, when Verticalsim announced that the project was being shelved indefinitely. At the time, the developer explained that with BMWorld/AMSIM already releasing their own KPBI scenery, there was little space in the market for two versions of the same airport.
That decision was reversed in mid-2025, when Verticalsim began sharing new previews. Since July, four sets of images have showcased a detailed rendition of the Florida airport, including the terminal complex, octagonal control tower, ARFF station, GA ramps, hangars, cargo facilities, and nearby hotels.

Palm Beach International itself offers a wide variety of operations that make it attractive for flight simulation. The airfield is equipped with four runways — parallel 10L/28R and 10R/28L, plus crosswind runway 14/32 — supporting both airline and general aviation traffic. Its modern terminal handles more than 60 daily commercial departures, while three full-service FBOs (Atlantic Aviation, Jet Aviation, and Signature Flight Support) serve a large volume of corporate and VIP flights. Simmers can replicate everything from scheduled airline operations to private jet charters and executive transport.
The airport is also a training hub, with local flight schools using its Class C airspace and towered environment to expose student pilots to complex procedures. Seasonal challenges such as Florida thunderstorms and VIP-related flight restrictions add additional realism for virtual pilots.

As of September 27th, KPBI is officially on track to join Verticalsim’s lineup of U.S. airports in October for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.
