Xometry Releases Harrisburg for MSFS

The development team of Xometry has released their rendition of Harrisburg Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The announcement of the release was made through the iniBuilds Discord server.

Harrisburg Airport (KMDT) is a medium-sized airport located in Pennsylvania near Middletown. It is also the primary airport for the South Central Pennsylvania region, and it is the third busiest airport in the state by passenger traffic.

The airport already exists for over 100 years, beginning in 1898, when the United States Army was stationed here. The first military aeroplanes landed here just after the First World War in 1918. Currently, the airport has a single 3-kilometre-long runway with a CAT III approach. There is only one terminal, equipped with twelve gates.

Speaking of connections, Harrisburg Airport offers flights to most major American cities, such as Dallas, Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, Orlando or Chicago O’Hare, as well as Newark. Currently, the largest operator at the airport is Allegiant Air, with seven different destinations being flown from the airport.

Cargo flights are present at this airport as well, with operators like DHL, FedEx and UPS, serving important cargo hubs in the United States.

Speaking of the scenery itself, Xometry has implemented detailed recreations of buildings at the airport, high-resolution textures with PBR and for more immersive detail, there is also realistic wear and tear, making it seem that the airport is not brand new. And lastly, there is also custom mesh with ortho imagery, improving the surrounding area of the airport, and custom night lighting.
