Blue Star Sky Simulations (BSS) announced, via Discord on October 18th, that he was indefinitely suspending development on the popular NeoV2 lighting add-on for X-Plane 12. The announcement came in response to Discord users who expressed dissatisfaction with the add-on’s visual fidelity.
In a statement, the developer expressed frustration that users had not been more appreciative of his efforts, adding that he is not a professional developer and sells flight sim add-ons only as a hobby. The developer responded to further criticism by banning users from the Discord.

The bans came as a surprise to many users, with the BSS Discord having long been billed as an unmoderated chat where people could speak their minds and offer constructive criticism. BSS, most known for his popular sound packs for X-Plane 12 and MSFS2024, would also take the opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to open dialogue in a personal review of Boris Audio Works‘s sound pack for the PMDG 777.

In a subsequent post, he would go on to accuse Fenix of theft, stating that the popular add-on developer had used his blueprints when developing engine sounds for its products. BSS did not provide evidence of these claims.

Things appear to have returned to normal on the BSS Discord in the wake of the announcement, with BSS sharing a development update for his CFM56 sound pack for the FSLabs new A321 Neo and live-streaming himself ranking pirated flight simulator payware add-ons.

We have reached out to the developer regarding his decision to suspend development of NeoV2, but have not received a response. We will update this story as needed.
