KwikFlight Releases the B-1 Lancer for MSFS

KwikFlight has released the B-1 Lancer bomber also known as the “Bone” for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The B-1 Lancer is a supersonic titan of the skies which has been faithfully recreated by industry veterans to bring simmers the best possible experience.

What Is the B-1 Lancer?

The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic sweep wing, heavy bomber aircraft used by the USAF. It is now one of the USAFs three strategic bombers, alongside the B-2 Spirit and B-52. Its payload weighs 34,000kg, the heaviest of any US bomber.

Rockwell envisioned the B-1 in the 1960s to replace the B-58 and B-52. Prototypes of the aircraft could fly at Mach 2.2 at high altitudes or match 0.85 at low altitudes. However, the program was cancelled in 1977 due to high costs and early work on the B-2 stealth bomber.

Due to delays in the B-2 program, the B-1 program was restarted in 1981. Its top speed was reduced to match 1.25 at high altitudes but increased to Mach 0.96 at low altitudes. Development of the B-1 Lancer began in 1985, with all 100 being delivered by 1988.

Simulating the unique swept wing mechanics, KiwkFlight has adjusted the aero dynamical response to the wing sweep, changing flight handling and efficiency. Wing sweep mechanics have also been modelled fully with visual and flight dynamic effects.

KiwkFlight developers have recreated the aircraft’s multi-functional display with six MFDs for flight planning, a weather radar and map displays with a touch FMS. The aircraft supports classic navigation systems like VOR, ILS, ADF and TACAN for a range of navigation.

Electrical and hydraulic systems have been implemented accurately based on the real aircraft. Featuring generators, APU and CSD as well as a bleed air system and simulated hydraulic systems which can affect the cabin pressure and aircraft performance.

Developers have also made the aircraft with supersonic flight capabilities, featuring responsive handling at high speeds. The autopilot panel will be fully useable along with a working TCAS system for traffic advisory. KwikFlight has also included 16 high-resolution liveries, both historical and modern.

The B-1 Lancer “Bone” is available now via the iniBuilds Store for โ‚ฌ28.41. This add-on will also be compatible with the later MSFS 2024. You can read about KiwkFlight’s previous B-2 Spirit here. For more flight simulator-related news, check out the rest of FSNews.
