Sante Sottile from the Orbx team has shared new images of the team’s upcoming scenery of Detroit Coleman A. Young International Airport (KDET) for Microsoft Flight Simulators. These previews were shared via the developer’s forums, showing a variety of development screenshots of this scenery.

The scenery of this Detroit airport is being developed by Massimiliano Addante and is developed to realistically represent this scenery’s real counterpart as realistically as possible in the two Asobo simulators. The scenery includes a variety of custom assets, some of which are also animated. They are all covered in PBR textures, ensuring realistic reflections. To further optimise performance, the LOD system is utilised in the MSFS 2024 version of the scenery, with as many as 10 LOD layers per model.

The terminal and the tower include detailed interiors, and the exterior modelling is also fully handcrafted. Speaking of the surroundings, the airport offers custom, realistic airport signage and custom textures for the taxiways and runways. In total, the team has already shown a good number of models that can be found at KDET. This includes a fire department training area, the terminal, the control tower and other details.
