The developer PMDG has released a major update for their 737-800 series aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Following the major update and the release of the 737-700, the team has made sure to update their current fleet to meet the current visual fidelity standards, which are now available on the most popular aircraft in the series yet. The team has announced the release of this update through their Facebook page.
PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has also shared a small development update, disclosing the process of updating this aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. He mentions that the 737-800 took a little longer to be updated due to the fact that there are many liveries that had to be updated to the high definition standard. The release of the 737-800 High Detail Update means that the whole aircraft series is now updated to these standards, and virtual pilots can enjoy this popular narrow-body in its full glory.

The paint kit for the new update is also going to be released throughout this day, ready for the weekend. Not only did this update significantly improve the visual fidelity of this aircraft, but it also fixed some bugs, improved stability and resource efficiency. Those who have purchased the 737-800 through Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s in-game marketplace will have to wait a bit longer for the update. It should be available sometime next week.
This development update did not only cover the 737 series, but the 777 was mentioned as well. The 777 series has received a minor update throughout this week, which is mostly focused on bug fixing and quality of life improvements. This update should bring more stability during the Navigraph navdata update process for Xbox users. However, this update is currently available only to Marketplace users, and Operations Center 3 users will have it available later today.
Continuing the topic of PMDG Operations Center, the old version, Operations Center 2.0, is no longer going to be supported and will be withdrawn from service in two weeks on the 26th of May. Those who still use the Prepar3D versions of the PMDG planes or older versions of PMDG planes will have to back up their liveries, as there will no longer be a capability to use this application to install new liveries.
Lastly, the DC-6 has been covered in this development update, too. The PMDG team is currently busy with testing the native MSFS 2024 version of the aircraft. This update of the aircraft is solely focused on ensuring serviceability for future compatibility updates and is not going to bring any significant visual or quality-of-life improvements to the virtual pilots. This update is going to be free for every current user of the DC-6. The release date of this update has not been announced just yet.
