PMDG have shared their first development update of 2025 in a short post. On their forums, one of the developers shared a small update on all of their products for MSFS 2020 and 2024. They said there was not much information at this time to share. They are still spooling back up after their holiday break and awaiting the SU1 update for MSFS 2024.
PMDG MSFS 2020 Updates
PMDG began with the 777 updates for MSFS 2020. They are currently preparing to insert the 777-200ER into beta testing. The release for the 200ER is anticipated for release into both MSFS 2020 and 2024. Once the 200ER has been in testing for a while, they can provide us with a better timeline for release. Currently, a shortened beta process is expected due to the stability of the product.
As for the MSFS 2020 Marketplace, they are pushing a small update for the 777. However, this has been delayed due to some versioning quality control issues with the submission to the Marketplace. Once the team have better information regarding this update release, they will let users know on their forums and socials. The next aircraft mentioned for MSFS 2020 updates was the PMDG 737NG, which did not come with too much information.
The 737NG does have an update in testing, however, the change is quite small according to PMDG. They are still trying to solve the spinning logo problem on the tablet. This is an issue which some users are reporting on the NG. They hope to push a fix for this late next week. Marketplace testing will take place at the same time.
PMDG Updates for MSFS 2024
Updates for MSFS 2024 are still awaiting some fixes from Microsoft for PMDG to move forward with their plans. They are currently experiencing memory allocation problems and CTDs. This is a result of the SDK/C++ support inside MSFS 2024. The issue has prevented PMDG from doing any major work on the platform. They hope a fix will be rolled out with the SU1 update for MSFS 2024.
The DC-6 is planned to be brought to 2024 by making the changes that are needed for it to work. However, due to the existing workload, there are no new features planned for the DC-6. Their priority is ensuring access to a flyable DC-6 in MSFS 2024. It’s one of their only products to not receive new features with the new simulator.
Once progress can be made in MSFS 2024, the goal is to work through the 777 releases. Eventually the entire 777 fleet in 2024 will include the 300ER, 777F, 200ER and 200LR. The plan is to release this to their customers as soon as they can. More news will be shared after they have looked through the SU1 update. They do not plan to charge an upgrade price for the 777s.
PMDG announced a major overhaul for the 737NG, ready for its introduction to MSFS 2024. This overhaul will include new sim platform features like the walk-arounds, career mode features, upgraded textures, new models, a new cabin and many more features. It will be a complete overhaul to give the customer a fresh version of the 737NG for the new simulator.
Hinting at the future of the 747, the team confirmed work is continuing and that more images on this will be shared next week in their weekend update.
Final Remarks
PMDG don’t have much to share this week, but they are still waiting on the SU1 update from Microsoft to address some glaring issues with the simulator. They hope this update will finally allow them to push products into MSFS 2024. This was the end of the development update by PMDG. It’s only the first one of 2025 so expect more in the coming weeks with more news and previews.
