SimBrief Introduces Take-off and Landing Performance Calculators

Navigraph has recently added a new take-off and landing performance calculator feature to its free flight planning tool Simbrief. You’re now able to quickly check your v-speeds, distances, flex temperatures, and more right on SimBrief.

The new performance calculation tools are packed with useful information for both take-offs and landings, and are available to use for over one hundred aircraft types, both big and small, as of launch. For take-off performance, SimBrief will calculate all the relevant v-speeds, flaps settings, thrust settings, flex temperatures, and more all based on the given airport, weather, packs/anti-icing configuration, and aircraft type.

For landing performance, the tool offers calculations for landing distance, max landing weight, brake settings, approach and Vref speeds, and more. You also have the option of choosing different landing configuration settings like landing flaps settings, thrust reversers on or off, and additional Vref speed depending on weather conditions and auto-throttle setting.

The tool will also automatically calculate the best runway for take-off and landing based on the real weather, however, these settings can all be overridden. In case you encounter a limiting factor such as weights, inappropriate configuration, or insufficient runway distance, SimBrief will alert you of this limiting factor and advise you not to proceed with your take-off or landing.

The new take-off and landing performance tools can be accessed through the Performance & Tools menu on the left side of SimBrief; a condensed version of both is also included in the dispatch page as seen in the image above.

The new performance calculation tools are available now for free for all SimBrief users. You can read the original release blog post here. If you are unfamiliar with SimBrief and would like to know more, check out Patrik’s SimBrief guide here.
