SimWorks Studios Confirms Dash 8 Classic for MSFS 2024

SimWorks Studios has revealed the Classic 8 Series for MSFS 2024 alongside the PC-12NG, Kodiak 900 and future projects.

The Classic Dash 8 is officially coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. SimWorks Studios has unveiled the upcoming Classic 8 Series, confirming development of the Dash 8-100, Dash 8-200, and Dash 8-300 as part of its latest development roadmap for the simulator.

The announcement marks the first official reveal of the project and offers the community an early look at one of the most anticipated regional aircraft currently in development. Preview images showcase both the exterior model and a detailed analogue cockpit, confirming that work on the aircraft family is well underway. While no release date has been announced, the reveal itself is a significant milestone for a project that many regional aviation enthusiasts have been hoping to see in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Dash 8 Classic family has built a strong reputation since entering airline service, becoming a familiar sight across regional networks worldwide. Renowned for its reliability, short take-off and landing performance, and distinctive turboprop character, the aircraft has remained a favourite among pilots and flight simulation enthusiasts alike. Bringing the -100, -200, and -300 variants to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will significantly expand the range of regional operations available within the simulator.

Although the Classic 8 Series formed the centrepiece of the presentation, SimWorks Studios also shared an updated look at several other projects currently in development.

The PC-12 Legacy remains on track for Q3 2026, bringing the classic analogue version of Pilatus’ popular single-engine turboprop to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It will be followed by the PC-12NG, currently planned for Q4 2026, featuring the aircraft’s more modern glass cockpit and updated avionics.

The developer also confirmed additional expansion of the Kodiak family. Both the Kodiak 100 Medevac Expansion and the Kodiak 100 Amphibian Edition are currently targeting Q3 2026. The Medevac package introduces a dedicated medical evacuation configuration for mission-based flying, while the Amphibian Edition will allow pilots to operate the aircraft from both runways and water.

Looking further ahead, SimWorks Studios also revealed the Kodiak 900, currently expected during Q4 2026. As the stretched variant of the Kodiak family, it will expand the developer’s growing utility aircraft lineup while retaining the operational flexibility that has made the series popular among bush and regional pilots.

Current GA-8 Airvan owners were not left out either. The developer announced that the Systems Pulse Expansion is now available, introducing a new failure management system that allows users to simulate aircraft system malfunctions and adds another layer of operational realism to the aircraft.

The roadmap presentation concluded with the message “The Story Continues,” suggesting that additional announcements may still be on the horizon. However, the confirmation of the Classic 8 Series is undoubtedly the headline reveal, bringing one of regional aviation’s most recognisable turboprop families a step closer to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 while giving the community its clearest look yet at SimWorks Studios’ future plans.
