TFDi Design Shares Extensive Preview of Upcoming MD-11 Updates

Developer TFDi Design has released new information about their upcoming updates for their MD-11 aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Developer TFDi Design has released new information about their upcoming updates for their MD-11 aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This announcement comes after the last preview shared by the developer in August about the progress made on this aircraft’s exterior model for their big visual update of the MD-11.

The next updates coming to the MD-11 are the Extended Simulation package, focusing on improving the aircraft’s systems and adding a new PW engine variant. A second update includes a big visual update. The MD-11 is also being prepared to be released for MSFS on the Xbox and MSFS 2024. In this recent announcement by the developer, they previewed all progress made for these updates, sharing screenshots and more information.

Exterior and Interior Model Update

TFDi Design starts this development update by sharing new screenshots of the MD-11 with some of the visual changes applied to the exterior model. These screenshots showcase a work-in-progress model with some details still needed to be added. Two developers from TFDi Design are responsible for completing this visual update, having remade the model and textures from scratch. New details and animations bring this model up to modern standards, according to the developer.

The visual update will also bring an improved passenger cabin, which has also been reworked entirely. This upgraded cabin will include new features and some immersive effects on the cabin windows. TFDi will maintain some of the new features with this cabin a secret for the moment.

Systems and PW Engines

The developer commented on the status of their PW engine for this aircraft. They significantly reworked the controls and behavior of the engines for a more accurate representation. TFDi Design shared that they are happy with the results, and this update is expected alongside the art update. Moving into the cockpit, TFDi Design is implementing some missing items and fixing known errors. New items being added to the cockpit are a fully operable cockpit window or the manual landing gear handle.

Their more ambitious Extended Simulation update overhauls the code of the aircraft with multiple new features, like over 160 failures, and aircraft maintenance simulation. In this update, the systems of the aircraft are also receiving a major overhaul. New details in the cockpit’s displays and improved systems readings will be added.

MSFS 2024 and Xbox Support

The developer has acknowledged that they are currently experiencing some delays with the release of the MSFS 2024 for PC and Xbox versions of this add-on. They stated back in early July that within 60 days, these new versions would become available alongside the previously mentioned updates. The MSFS 2024 version is going to be a complete upgrade over the MSFS 2020 version and not just a port, which includes native features of the simulation.

With the art and Extended Simulation update nearing completion, the new versions of the MD-11 for MSFS 2024 for PC, Xbox, and all updates are expected to be released at the same time. No official date has been revealed for this by the developer, but they stated it is going to be released very soon. More announcements are expected from TFDi Design regarding the MD-11; expect more information about this add-on here at FSNews.
