Black Square has released a major update (version 1.2) for its popular Duke aircraft series—both the Piston Duke and Turbine Duke—bringing full compatibility with MSFS 2024 and introducing a wide range of system improvements, feature additions, and realism upgrades. Although MSFS 2024 compatibility is one of the main highlights of these updates, version 1.2 is also compatible with MSFS 2020.
The update builds on the previous 1.1 release and includes refinements to engine behavior, avionics integration, visual polish, and flight performance across both models. These enhancements continue Black Square’s tradition of offering highly detailed, system-rich general aviation aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Piston Duke
The Piston Duke now supports an interactive walkaround preflight feature with visual chocks, tie-downs, pitot covers, and a working headset simulation that attenuates in-sim audio when connected. A physics-based magnetic compass has been added, showcasing realistically erratic movement.
Engine simulation realism has been deepened with the possibility of oil pump failure and engine seizure if misused. Visual and system integration has been enhanced, including updated interior lighting for MSFS 2024 and improved VR compatibility.

Support for TDS GTNxi 750/650 has been improved with bezel functionality and cross fill compatibility. The aircraft’s onboard tablet now syncs faster and offers smoother usability and the push button interactions of various avionics units have been updated to conform to Black Square’s latest standards.
The Turbine Duke
Like its piston-powered counterpart, the Turbine Duke receives full MSFS 2024 compatibility along with interactive preflight walkaround features, including clickspots for engine covers, chocks, baggage doors, and more. The headphone simulation has also been implemented, complete with visual cables and adjustable sound attenuation.
This update introduces smoother propeller governor behavior and a new “Instant Beta on Touchdown” tablet option that improves ground handling realism. An engine-driven fuel pump failure is now simulated, and torque indication has been made more responsive. Interior lighting has been completely reworked for MSFS 2024, and custom toe brake animations have been added.

Avionics updates include improved bezel switching for the GTNxi 750/650, TDS cross fill support, and revised button interactions across the KNS-81 RNAV, KR87 ADF, and KLN90B. Additional enhancements touch on dynamic registration toggle support, improved fan speed visualization, more realistic gas generator response, and refined cabin oxygen logic based on cabin pressure rather than outside air. Numerous bug fixes address precipitation sound restoration, ADF and RNAV instrument behavior, circuit breaker logic, tablet sync issues, visual polish, and electrical fault handling.
