Combat Pilot took to the stage at FlightSimExpo 2026 to provide a new look at its upcoming World War II military flight simulation platform. During the presentation, the development team shared fresh details about carrier operations, aircraft development, future Pacific Theater expansions, and a free demo that will allow players to experience the simulator before release.
Unlike traditional civilian flight simulators, Combat Pilot is being built around naval aviation in the Pacific Theater, combining detailed aircraft simulation, carrier operations, and historically inspired combat scenarios within a dedicated military aviation environment.

A New WWII Combat Flight Simulation Experience
The first chapter of Combat Pilot will focus on carrier-based aviation during World War II, placing players in the demanding environment of naval operations across the Pacific.
The project aims to recreate the unique challenges faced by pilots operating from aircraft carriers, including deck takeoffs, carrier landings, navigation over open water, and combat missions inspired by historical events.
According to the development team, the simulator is being designed as a long-term platform that will continue expanding with new locations, aircraft, and campaigns over time.
Battle of Midway and Future Pacific Expansions
One of the key topics discussed during the presentation was the simulator’s focus on the Pacific Theater.
The initial content will center around the Battle of Midway, one of the most significant naval engagements of World War II. Players will operate from iconic carriers including the USS Enterprise and the IJN Akagi while participating in carrier qualification training and operational missions.
The team also revealed plans to expand beyond Midway in future updates. Locations mentioned during the presentation included Wake Island, the Coral Sea, and eventually the Solomon Islands, gradually building a larger and more detailed Pacific combat environment.
This roadmap reflects the developers’ ambition to create a growing World War II combat aviation platform rather than a single standalone release.

Aircraft Included in Carrier Qualification
The first release will feature two legendary carrier-based fighters:
- Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat
- Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero
According to the presentation, both aircraft will include fully interactive cockpits, realistic fuel systems, advanced flight modeling, customizable ammunition loadouts, immersive audio environments, and virtual reality support.
The goal is to faithfully recreate the flying characteristics and operational procedures of these iconic World War II aircraft while providing an engaging experience for both casual pilots and hardcore simulation enthusiasts.

Additional Collector Aircraft Planned
Alongside the core package, the developers also revealed optional collector aircraft that will expand the simulator’s hangar.
The first aircraft announced were:
- B-17E Flying Fortress
- A6M2-N “Rufe” floatplane
These aircraft are intended to offer additional mission opportunities and unique historical experiences beyond traditional carrier operations.
Free Demo Confirmed
One of the most welcomed announcements during the presentation was the confirmation of a free demo version.
The demo will include:
- F4F-3 Wildcat
- Midway map
- Single-player quick missions
- Mission builder tools
- Weapons and ordnance systems
The development team confirmed that the demo will remain permanently free, allowing flight simulation enthusiasts to explore Combat Pilot before committing to future purchases.

Building a Dedicated Military Aviation Platform
Combat Pilot is positioning itself as more than a traditional aircraft add-on. The project is being developed as a dedicated military aviation platform focused on authentic World War II operations, detailed aircraft systems, and immersive combat scenarios.
The team emphasized that future development will continue expanding the Pacific Theater while introducing additional aircraft, missions, and operational environments.
With a growing aircraft roster, carrier operations, historical locations, and a free demo planned, Combat Pilot is shaping up to become one of the most ambitious military flight simulation projects currently in development.

Release Window
The developers confirmed that the first major release, Carrier Qualification, is currently targeting a release window in Q1 2027.
This initial package will serve as the foundation for future expansions and will introduce players to the core mechanics of carrier aviation before larger Pacific Theater content arrives in subsequent updates.
Additional information about Combat Pilot can be found through future updates from the development team and official project channels.
